Oregon House Hacking: Buy a 2–4 Unit and Live in One

Oregon house hacking is not renting a spare bedroom. It is buying a duplex, a house with a separate ADU, a triplex, or a fourplex, living in one dwelling, and renting the others so the rented units help carry the payment while you learn to be a landlord on the same lot. You will pick a property that is actually two to four separate dwellings, run the numbers without a canned “good deal” score, talk to a lender about owner-occupied financing, close and occupy on time, and manage the first tenant who lives next door — not in your kitchen. A two-unit owner-occupied file and a three- or four-unit file are not the same under Oregon law, Portland rules, or most loan programs. The course keeps those differences in view from the first video. Room rentals and home sharing are out of scope. Fair housing still applies when the tenant has their own dwelling.
