Foreclosures & Legal Issues Focus Group Presents:

DATE: Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 6:30pm
MODERATOR: Dick Uffelman, Attorney
GUEST SPEAKER: Tracey Pipkin -  Field Investigator from the Construction a Contractors’ Board of the State of Oregon

If you can’t answer 95% of these questions, you need to take this class.
It’s also a great review for veteran investors

  1. 1. I have lived in my house for 3 years and I want to do a major remodel and then sell it. Do I need any special license from the CCB?
  2. 2.I have moved into a house and lived there for 60 days. I have done some major remodeling in the time I have been there. I want to sell it. Do I need a special license from the CCB?
  3. 3. I am going to remodel several houses this year and sell them. Is it true that I do not need a license for the first three (3) houses in a year?
  4. 4. I had major remodeling done on my flips before I sold them, and I always use licensed contractors. Does that get me off the hook or do I need something more?
  5. 5. I have a general contractor’s license, although I do not have a journeyman plumber’s license. Can I re-plumb a house and then sell it?
  6. 6.I don’t usually deal with structures. However, I often purchase land which is suitable for minor partitions and break it into two (2) or three (3) lots with a licensed surveyor. Do I need a developer’s license?
  7. 7. Do I still have to go to classes to get a general contractor’s license or can I do all of the school work online?
  8. 8. Can I challenge the exam and have the class hours waived?
  9. 9. I just do landscaping work and minor repairs for others on a fee basis. Do I need a license? Is there an exception?
  10. 10. How much does it cost to take the contractor’s exam?
  11. 11. The only thing that I do as a service for third-parties is drywall work. Can I get a license to do that only, or do I need a general contractor’s license?
  12. 12. I have training in the construction industry and I don’t intend on hiring any employees, but I would like to be hired to do the finish carpentry work on one of your flips. Do I need a special license?
  13. 13. I’m a handyman and I do minor painting and repairs for others by the hour and I never touch plumbing or electricity. Do I need a license?
  14. 14. I don’t have a contractor’s license but I did some alterations under a written contract and the owner has refused to pay. Can I file a lien? Can I foreclose on the lien? If not, can I just sue in court?
